Founded in 1930, St. George's School is a world-class boys' university preparatory school, offering a day program in Grades 1-12 and an Urban Boarding program in Grades 8-12. With 1160 students, 110 of whom are boarders from over 20 countries worldwide, St. George’s School is a vibrant community committed to authentic learning.

Empathy. Humility. Integrity. Respect. Responsibility. Resilience.

Our Mission is to inspire our students to become fine young men who will shape positive futures for themselves, their families, and the global community.

Through a broad and inclusive program, our students will be educated and prepared for life. They will possess a solid knowledge based in a wide range of disciplines, as well as core academic skills combined with 21st-century global skills.

During their time at Saints, they will also develop key virtues such as empathy, humility, integrity, resilience, respect, and responsibility.
They will be inspired to become good men!

Community Values

Being a part of St. George’s School goes well beyond the academic program at the school. For our boarding students, it begins with their active involvement at residences with their friends, house parents, coaches, and mentors.

The students who experience the greatest success at St. Georges are those who are actively involved in a wide variety of activities within the school and residential life communities. We do not expect that every student will excel at, or even enjoy, every activity. What we do ask is that you get involved in a wide range of activities and put in your best effort.

Spectacular & Safe Setting

Framed by majestic mountains, sparkling ocean, rainforests, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Canadians are known for our friendly nature, and Vancouver's citizens take great pride in our welcoming, clean, safe streets - day or night, all year round.

Vancouver is consistently rated as one of the top cities in the world to live. The beautiful, natural environment draws people from around the world.
Newcomers – like you – contribute to Vancouver's diversity and liveability.

Urban Boarding

At St. George’s our urban boarding students live, learn, and play with young men from over 20 countries around the world, but also have the freedom to enjoy endless activities on their weekends, both on a diverse school campus and within a great west coast city and natural outdoor playground. We call this “the authentic boarding school experience”.

Supporting our classroom learning is a wide collection of co-curricular opportunities that includes over 50 clubs, 40 athletic options. For example, Senior School students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of games that vary from term to term. From Badminton to Rock Climbing, there are games to suit any interest! Clubs are formed according to student interest each year. At present, the list of available clubs runs from Art to Woodworking.

  • St. George’s Senior School is committed to providing an exciting range of learning opportunities. Teachers embrace a pedagogical approach that deepens students’ engagement and creates a culture of inquiry in the classroom. Through varied instructional and assessment strategies including learning cohorts, Harkness discussions, guided inquiry, blended learning, visible thinking routines, and experiential, interdisciplinary, and project-based learning, students are encouraged to find a love of learning and their own voice, while simultaneously developing their independence, connectedness to the world, and sense of agency within it. St. George's School not only prepares students for university in Canada, U.S., and abroad, our School prepares students to be lifelong learners and global citizens with good character.

  • The Music Program is both vibrant and dynamic. With a focus on wind and brass, our young musicians are encouraged to learn about music through performance, and frequently participate in regional, national, and international events. The goal of the Music Department is to help students develop the highest possible levels of musicianship in keeping with their interests and abilities.

  • The Visual Arts program covers a wide gamut of interests including Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpting, Animation, Computer Graphics, Video, Painting, and Drawing. The range of materials and facilities are extensive and offer just about anything to satisfy the hunger of a curious mind fed by an unlimited imagination.

  • The Theatre Arts Department at St. George's School is a vibrant, busy program that challenges students in a myriad of endeavours to support our rigorous schedule of presentation. Our students involve themselves in every aspect of production and can explore their particular interests with vigour.

  • A tradition of excellence The Athletics Department has sustained a wide-range of achievements across all of our more than 20 Varsity Sport Programs and is recognized as one of the most successful high school athletics programs in the country. Our teams have captured almost 200 Provincial, ISAA and National Championships over the past few decades. This is perhaps more impressive when you consider that more than 80% of our students participate on a competitive team. The success and development we enjoy during competition and training is matched by the successes we enjoy in the classroom.

Our sport programs offer athletes opportunities to develop their leadership skills, their self-confidence and their commitment to others while seeking to achieve a common goal. Win-loss records are but one way to measure success. Our sport programs are focused on the process – training, teamwork, skill development – and not purely the outcome. We are always focused on character development through participation in our programming, for both the boys and the coaches.
